*I am going to re-word the synopsis, so y’all can get an idea of what the book is about…..So, here is my synopsis of the book If The Shoe Fits!
“Julianne Bartlett is a brilliant young attorney setting out to start her own law firm with her best friend-and virtually constant companion- Will Hanes. She has also been waiting for her Prince Charming to gallop in on his white steed ever since her mother read her the Cinderella story when she was a little girl. But, Will rode in on a 10-speed bike while they were still in grade school, and who meets the perfect guy right in the middle of the cul-de-sac?
One dreadful rainy day, on the way to her new office, Julianne narrowly escapes a car collision and screeches to halt when a gorgeous Prince Charming gets out in the middle of a busy intersection to save a dog and drives off, leaving a toolbox and work boot on the side of the road. The second she sees this mysterious prince she is instantly in love and is determined to find him again. But how far will she go to capture the attention of a man, who becomes less and less charming all the time, because of what everyone else is saying about her? And will Will ever get the courage to tell Julianne how much he loves her and risk their friendship if it fails?”
I have to say, this book was very enjoyable! Lots and lots of funny scenes that had me laughing out loud! I loved Julianne’s personality, she always looked for the good in every situation, even when some of the worst circumstances hit her and Will’s law firm. Julianne loves animals and the people in her town, as well as out, and was always helping in fundraisers for just about everything you can think of.
Will and Julianne have been best friends since they were 10 or so, and Will has been in love with her since he laid eyes on her, but never had the courage to risk their friendship by jumping into a serious relationship, until 20 years later, when this Prince Charming threatens to take her away permanently.
Will and Julianne have their ups and downs like all best friends do and we all know what the end will be like, but it is fun reading how the end comes about!
This book showed me what peer-pressure really can accomplish. Julianne was so scared of what everyone else would think of her when she went to an important ceremony, that she would rather pay a handsome guy to be her date when he didn’t even want to be with her, instead of going with Will because everyone saw him as her “backup date”. I felt bad for poor Will. She caused herself more embarrassment by trying to please everyone else rather than just being herself and going with her best friend.
Side Note: So, no matter your age, don’t fall into the trap of peer-pressure, just be yourself.
This book is another one to join Rayleigh’s Hall of Fame, so it is very highly recommended!
