Book Review: Beyond All Dreams by Elizabeth Camden

Beyond All Dreams

The Synopsis:

Sweeping and Romantic Historical Drama from an Award-Winning Author
Anna O’Brien leads a predictable and quiet life as a map librarian at the illustrious Library of Congress until she stumbles across a baffling mystery of a ship disappeared at sea. She is thwarted in her attempts to uncover information, but her determination outweighs her shyness and she turns to a dashing congressman for help.
Luke Callahan was one of the nation’s most powerful congressmen until his promising career became shadowed in scandal. Eager to share in a new cause and intrigued by the winsome librarian, he joins forces with Anna to solve the mystery of the lost ship.
Opposites in every way, Anna and Luke are unexpectedly drawn to each other despite the strict rules forbidding Anna from any romantic entanglement with a member of Congress.
From the gilded halls of the Capitol, where powerful men shape the future of the nation, to the scholarly archives of the nation’s finest library, Anna and Luke are soon embroiled in secrets much bigger and more perilous than they ever imagined. Is bringing the truth to light worth risking all they’ve ever dreamed for themselves?

My Review:

Elizabeth Camden writes another fabulous novel! Her writing style and characters had me as an avid fan in Into the Whirlwind (which still stands as my favorite Historical fiction novel!) and I was not disappointed with Beyond All Dreams! The way Camden words her story draws you in and lets you connect with all of the characters. The plot was very intriguing and I loved uncovering all of the small mysteries with Luke and Anna.

I did find the characters to be almost identical, in way of personalities, as the characters from Into the Whirlwind. Though there were a little differences here and there, I think that if she were to swap names with the other book (Zack and Molly), it would go equally as well for both books. It would be nice to read some diversity in personality types, but I loved both books so this is not negative!

The main reason that this book was unique from other books that I’ve read, is that the characters actually communicated when they misunderstood something! In most historical romance novels, something will be misunderstood and the characters will fight until either someone else reveals the true meaning, or something terrible happens (If you’re familiar with historical fiction, you know the routine.). But not so in this! The characters developed a really good habit of communicating through their differences, they still disagreed, but it was a much more refreshing read!

I rate Beyond All Dreams 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to everyone who loves Historical romance/fiction!

“I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are my own.”
